We hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer because we are only 12 days away from the beginning of the school year! WOW! Time has flown by but I am very excited to see the kids back in the building. We have missed them.
I wanted to share with you some news about our new afterschool provider, “THE CLUB”. After extensive research SPARK, along with Mary Lin and Hope Hill, have decided to change our afterschool provider. We feel that “The CLUB” will be able to better support us as we further pursue our signature program of College and Career as well as support us in our strategic plan and individual school needs. I have included some information about the CLUB and its owner, Kila Posey. You will also find information on how to register your child for the 2018.2019 school year!
The Club After School
Owner: Kila Posey
I am Kila Posey wife and mother to three girls. I’m rooted in the neighborhood and have a strong passion for education and promoting the Signature Theme of the Grady Cluster. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Illinois, a Masters of Arts degree in Adult Learning and Curriculum Instruction from Central Michigan University, K-12 Gifted Endorsement Certification, and an Education Specialist degree in Leadership & Administration from Central Michigan University.
I have over a decade of experience in education. I have taught grades 2-5, served as a Special Education Student Support Program Specialist K-12 for CCSD, and more recently served as the Grady Cluster Signature Theme Program Support Specialist. I also served as the Director at Cobb County School District’s largest After School Program. My strengths are being a creative thinker, problem solving, technology savvy, effective long-range planner, and the ability to communicate with a diverse population. I enjoy the challenges of education, working with teachers, parents, and students, and the opportunities to make education happen for all students. In my free time, I enjoy planning events, traveling, watching sports and cooking! I am committed to providing an inclusive and engaging environment for all students!
The Club After School recognizes that learning does not stop at the end of the school day. Supporting ongoing education through integrating the College & Career Readiness 5 C’s gives students opportunities to further explore their interests. Our mission is to provide stimulating activities and structure for students that keep them engaged while attending the The Club! We have worked extremely closely with building administration to uphold the standards set forth by the Grady Cluster which promotes the Cluster’s Signature Theme. We are excited to build this partnership and provide structure and enhanced enrichment as the on-site after school provider. The Club’s program will integrate the 5 C’s (creativity, critical thinking, citizenship, communication, and collaboration) to help drive the focus of our enrichment activities. All registered students will participate in various activities (book clubs, yoga, experiments, art activities, steam, language classes, collaborative sports)!
The Club After School is also partnering up with Grady High School! We have created a community service program that will allow GHS students to complete service hours at various Club locations.
The Club After School is excited to announce it’s partnership with Atlanta Public Schools and the Grady Cluster and we look forward to an exciting year!
