Transportation Changes

All transportation needs or changes must go through the front office. For bag tags or transportation changes, please contact the SPARK office at 404.802.6050. Hang tags for walkers and car poolers must be obtained from the front office.

SPARK Arrival and Dismissal Expectations

Getting your child to and from school safely is our number one priority.

Please adhere to the rules of conduct regarding dismissal of our students. This is to ensure the safety of all children and persons on the school premises. Please review the overall expectations in the documents linked below. Specifics about other modes of transportation (bus, car pool and walkers) can be found in their respective areas below.

Note:  All routes and stops are subject to change at the beginning of the school year due to student population flux and ridership levels. Stop times will fluctuate the first one to two weeks of school until the stops have all been established (added and/or dropped). Once established, you should be able to set your clock by them. Please have children at their stops five (5) minutes before assigned stop times and refer to FAQs for more information.

Carpool procedures are in place to ensure CHILD SAFETY. Please abide by rules to ensure a safe and efficient process.

NEW for 2016/17

  • All cars will be registered and provided with (2) carpool mirror hang tags that will be assigned a number for the 2016-2017 school year.
  • You may pick up a 2016-2017 carpool numbered hang tag any time from the main office.
  • Only cars with hang tag numbers are allowed to pick students up from the carpool lane.
  • In the event that the car is without a hang tag, the designated person will need to park and come in to the front office to collect the student.
  • It is the family’s responsibility to ensure that designated people have hang tags.
  • Carpool drop off starts at 7:35 AM and ends at 7:50 AM. No drop-off prior to 7:35 before SPARK staff is in place
  • Carpool pick-up starts at 2:35 PM and ends at 2:50 PM.
  • Carpool drop off and pick up must be done in the carpool lane only at 803 Briarcliff Road.
  • No child may be dropped off in front of the Hirsch or Rutland Building on Ponce de Leon Ave at any time and NEVER enter the bus lane on Ponce de Leon Avenue when buses are present.
  • NO CELL PHONE USE in the carpool lane during arrival or departure as a common courtesy and safety protocol.
  • Have children ready to exit the vehicle. Unlock doors and have children start to unbuckle seat belts when in carpool area.
  • Children may only depart and enter vehicle on passenger side. Parents must stay in vehicles.
  • Keep pets in vehicles and away from open windows. No pets are allowed on school property and you are liable for accidents or injuries related to pets.
  • Please be alert and follow the instructions of the carpool assistants. If someone asks you to move to improve the flow, please oblige. Opening and closing the doors for your student is a courtesy and may not always be available.
  • Be a follower: Follow the car ahead of you as we are filling up the carpool lane. When one car breaks the routine, others follow, chaos ensues, and you get out later, not sooner.
  • Late drop off (after 8:00 AM): You must park and walk your child into the main office and sign them in.
  • Late pickup (after 2:50 PM): If you miss afternoon carpool, your child(ren) will be taken to our After School Classe (ASC). When you arrive, park at the front of the school on Briarcliff Road and proceed to the front office to check in and pick them up. Please be aware there is a charge for unexpected drop-ins.
  • Change of transportation: If for any reason there are changes to your carpool dismissal plans, contact Ms. Peebles or Ms. Walker and your child’s teacher before 1:00PM.

Walking dismissal procedures are in place to ensure CHILD SAFETY

  • Only walkers with hang tag numbers are allowed to pick students up from the walker dismissal area (side gymnasium door).
  • In the event that designated person is without a walker hang tag, the designated person will need to come in to the front office to collect the student.
  • It is the family’s responsibility to ensure that designated people have a hang tag.
  • Walker pick-up starts at 2:35 PM and ends at 2:50 PM at the side gymnasium door.
  • NO CELL PHONE USE during pickup as a common courtesy and safety protocol.
  • Late pickup (after 2:50 PM): If you miss walker dismissal, your child(ren) will be taken to our After School Classe (ASC).
