Atlanta Public Schools is closely monitoring Hurricane Florence in collaboration with the National Weather Service and city and state officials. The latest forecast track and information from the National Weather Service indicate the impacts to Georgia are expected to remain limited, as Hurricane Florence is likely to make landfall by Friday morning somewhere along the Carolina coast. However, some forecast track models show the storm’s remnants tracking a bit more west after landfall. If this happens, this could increase heavy rainfall or gusty winds in parts of the western Carolinas and possibly some eastern parts of Georgia by the end of the week and into the weekend. We advise everyone to continue to monitor the weather forecast closely over the coming days. We will continue to monitor the forecast track and will update you if inclement weather is expected to affect normal school operations. In the case of severe weather, APS parents, guardians and employees can expect to hear from us through the following channels: social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), robocalls, robotexts, APS Mobile App, emails, and here on our website.
