No Cheating

Terry HarnessIntegrity is not a conditional word. It doesn’t blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won’t cheat, then you know he never will.
~ John D. MacDonald

It can be so easy to “fudge a little,” to tell yourself, “No one is looking” or “Everyone else is doing it.” But that’s not true. You are looking at your own behavior and not everyone else is cheating. We human beings can rationalize almost any bad behavior. That’s important to remember when making choices. But we also have a great capacity for living with unshakable integrity and teaching our children to do the same. That’s one of the greatest lessons we will ever teach.

This week has been a busy one for students, teachers, administrators and parents. Testing has been thrust upon us and I am happy to report that our kids are rock stars and they have handled the first few days of testing with an unwavering confidence in themselves. They know they are ready and more importantly that they are able! Thank you for doing all that you have done as parents to ensure that our kids are getting to school on time and ready for the day. The past three days have been remarkable. Our tardy rate has dropped to less than 10 kids arriving after 8:00am. That is a wonderful considering the week prior we had on average 60 kids show up to school after 8:00 every day. Well done, SPARK! Well done!

Testing resumes next week with our 5th graders and our 4th graders participating in Georgia Milestones. We are still asking that parents refrain from visiting the school in any capacity during testing. Continue to arrive on time and be sure that your kids eat a healthy breakfast and get plenty of sleep the night before. It makes a difference!

As we wrap up the end of the school year, please take a moment to fill out the SPARK Student Placement Input Form. This is your opportunity to share with administration the characteristics of a teacher in which you feel your child would thrive. So please take the time to complete this form by clicking on this link.

All forms are due by May 18th.

I hope you had a great weekend!!
