Trust Your Heart
Trust your heart if the seas catch fire, live by love though the stars walk backward.
Sometimes things happen that turn our world completely upside down, and even though “seas catch fire and stars walk backward,” we find ourselves needing to make a tough decision. We can’t hide from it and we can only deflect the decision for so long before the time comes when we must choose a course of action. Often there isn’t a clear right or wrong answer (that’s the tough part!). So how do we deal with the inevitable? Aside from being prepared with the knowledge we need for combating said tough decision – trusting our hearts and doing what is best for all are good first steps towards getting through those difficult choices.
Recently SPARK received our school operating budget for the 2018-2019 school year. Although there are some cuts in our overall budget, I am confident that with the support of our GO Team we will make decisions that are in the best interest of all of our children. Some of these decisions will be tough, but they will be the right decisions overall. In the next week be on the lookout for a “Vlog”(video presentation) from me and the GO Team regarding our operating budget and decisions that we are making to continue to move SPARK forward. We want to be as transparent as possible and we want you to be informed. You input and feedback is necessary and we invite you to come and join us at our next GO Team meeting on February 28th at 6pm at SPARK!
We will be holding an informational meeting for parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at SPARK for Georgia Milestones. On March 8th at 6PM in the cafeteria, we will hold a 3rd Grade only information session. We will discuss the expectations of GA Milestones, how scores are calculated and ways in which you can support your child at home. For 3rd grade students, this is the first year that your children will be exposed to standardized, high stakes testing and we want to make it as seamless a process as possible. We can do that by ensuring that you are informed.
We will also hold a GA Milestones informational meeting for 4th and 5th grade students on March 15th at 6PM in the cafeteria. We will discuss components of the GA Milestones, as well as calculations of scores and how you can support your child at home.
Thank you is in order to Dr. Meredith Evans and the International Night Committee for a beautiful inaugural International Night! On February 1st we celebrated our wonderful diversity at SPARK. We had countries and performances represented from all over the world. It is important to take the time to celebrate our diversity and this was a excellent event that showcased how diverse SPARK truly is. Thank you for such a great event!
Thanks to Atkins Park this past this past Wednesday, Family Focus Night. If you didn’t know, Atkins Park hosted a cookie decorating night for our SPARK families. We had a number of families attend in turn supporting our local business partner. Don’t forget to TWEET out #SPARKFamilyFocusNight pictures and tag @TerryHarness and @APS_SPARK.
Have a great weekend!
