Abbie McCafferty has taught second through fifth grades since 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a reading specialist endorsement from Purdue University. She believes in building positive relationships with students and families. She thinks every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. Her role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge.
Mrs. McCafferty has been with Atlanta Public Schools since 2017. Prior to APS, she taught 2nd and 4/5 grade at Holabird Academy within the Baltimore Public Schools. She moved to Georgia and taught 3rd grade at International Academy of Smryna, an International Baccalaureate school in Cobb County.
Mrs. McCafferty is married to Eric McCafferty. During her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling. On the weekend, you might find her exploring the “new city” and spending time with family and friends.
She is very excited to be a part of SPARK this year and meet your child!
